66th Southern California Journalism Awards

The 66th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards Contest is officially open! Make sure to read our call for entries closely, as we've added a few new categories, including one for weather and traffic reports and another for short film reviews.

The final deadline for submitting entries is 5 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2024.

LAPC members save even more on entries, so consider joining the press club or renewing your membership today!

This year's winners will be announced at an awards dinner gala at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Los Angeles Times journalists who lost their jobs in 2023/2024 are eligible for a complimentary one-year membership plus two free entries to the SoCal Journalism Awards Contest. Please contact Executive Director Diana Ljungaeus by emailing Diana@LApressclub.org to receive a special discount code.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Wins Veritas Award

The Los Angeles Press Club is thrilled to announce Killers of the Flower Moon, produced by Apple Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures, is the winner of its 9th annual Veritas Award for Best Film Based on or Inspired by Real Events and People.

“This movie, based on in-depth reporting by a dedicated journalist, brought a forgotten piece of American history to a wide audience around the world,” said LA Press Club President Lisa Richwine.

Life in the Time of the Coronavirus Contest

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our Life in the Time of the Coronavirus Contest!

These are challenging times and our entrants bravely and acutely documented their experience living through the COVID-19 pandemic.

First Place winners will receive $1,000. Second Place winners get $500 and Third Place winners get $200 each. All runner-ups will get $100 each. Cash prizes are partly funded by a generous grant from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
