Meet the Foot in the Door Fellows Class of 2026 — Tupac Zapata

Tupac Zapata is a multilingual multimedia journalist and News Assistant at ABC7. A graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, he began his career at Los Angeles City College and Pasadena City College, where he earned a first-place JACC award for Sports Feature Photography. While at Cal State LA, Zapata produced his first documentary as a Dreamer Resource Center fellow.

His international reporting includes serving as a correspondent for the 2024 Copa América with Todo Deportes Television and reporting for Canal 11 Honduras. In 2025, Zapata expanded into high-profile production and digital storytelling, working as a location producer for Channel 4 News London and contributing voiceover work for Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5 News.

Currently, he also serves as the audio editor for the “Getting Through It” podcast with Dr. Lucy Jones, documenting Southern California’s disaster recovery efforts. Zapata’s background across broadcast, photography, and audio fuels his commitment to impactful storytelling.
