I am currently studying visual communication at Ohio University. I have an undergrad degree in photojournalism, film, with a minor in African American studies from Western Kentucky University. I recently finished a fellowship at the Los Angeles Times, and I want to continue working in the Los Angeles area. My great-grandfather Johnny Blackshire first moved to Los Angeles in 1949, and many of my family members followed his lead. I am immersed in the communities that are not seen on the news. I enjoy photojournalism and many forms of video. I enjoy the landscape of Bluegrass that my forefathers built and the mountains that shape our nation. I love how photojournalism can introduce you to people that are from different perspectives, backgrounds, states, and countries than your own, but all will have a lasting impact on you.
