During the pandemic, the Press Club has helped out-of-work journalists through its emergency fund, awarded cash awards to winners of its coronavirus storytelling contest, held the annual SoCal Journalism Awards through a fun and creative Zoom event, launched a $10,000 grant for reporting on systemic racism, mentored young journalists of color through its Foot in the Door program, and responded to reports of police brutality against local journalists.
