The 45th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards dinner will take place on Saturday evening, June 21, in the Grand Ballrooms of the Sheraton Universal Hotel, announced Ted Johnson, President of the Los Angeles Press Club.
The club is returning to the venue where the highly successful 2001 awards dinner was held, which honored CBS anchor Dan Rather and others. Once again, the evening will begin with a gala cocktail reception, followed by an elegant dinner and awards program.
Journalism Awards Deadline Extended
Johnson also announced that the club has extended the deadline for entries in the journalism awards competition from March 7 to March 21, 2003, to accommodate late entries. No entries will be accepted after that date.
For a copy of the Call for Entries, download the PDF file. You may also request a copy by mail from the club office by calling (323) 469-8180 or by Email to info@lapressclub.org.
Up to five finalists in each category will be notified in early May. There will also be upcoming announcements about honorary award winners and other special events related to this year’s dinner, which is being produced by Alex Ben Block, Editor of Television Week, and Johnson, who is also a national writer for TV Guide.
As in past years, all entries will be judged by out of town press club members. In return, the L.A. Press Club judges entries for many of those clubs.
As a result, the club has a need for journalists who are interested in being judges for these competitions.
Please contact Jim Foy through the club office if you are interested, or email him (jimfoy@earthlink.net).
