A LETTER FROM PRESS CLUB PRESIDENT CHRIS WOODYARD

After another successful year, the Press Club is looking for fresh ideas and energy to continue our tradition of serving journalists across Southern California.

Please consider running for the Board of Directors. You’ll be able to make a great organization even greater, lending a hand in organizing our important speaking and panel events as well as our 52nd Annual Southern California Journalism Awards. Working with the Press Club is a chance to give back to your profession at a time of unprecedented change.

Serving on the board is also an opportunity for personal growth. You can connect yourself more deeply into the news business in the Southland, make great professional and personal connections that will serve you long after your two-year term has ended and help shape the future. Plus, it’s fun and gratifying.

To throw your hat in the ring, or just find out more, start by attending our annual meeting next Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., at the club’s headquarters in Los Feliz. We’ll present you to the membership and give you the chance to make a few remarks about your candidacy. This is my 10th year of involvement with the club and it has been a rewarding time. I know it will be for you as well.

Sincerely,
Chris Woodyard
President, Los Angeles Press Club
