Daily News editor Ron Kaye, former KCBS political editor Linda Breakstone and LA Times “Top of the Ticket” editor Don Frederick served on a panel to discuss the Examiner, hosted by moderator Alex Ben Block. The evening served as a tribute to Herald Examiner editor James Bellows, who received a standing ovation from the standing-room-only crowd.

The 49th Annual Southern California Journalism awards also gave special honors to Gustavo Arellano, Anna Politkovskaya, and Judy Woodruff. The 50th annual event will be held June 21.
