Now Is The Time To Enter The National Entertainment Journalism Awards

Thursday, January 15, 2009 4:52 PM

The search is on for the best work by writers, broadcasters, bloggers and critics who cover showbiz.

Time is running out to enter the National Entertainment Journalism Awards, presented by the Los Angeles Press Club. Entries must be received by Friday, Feb. 6.

The awards honor the top stories and reviews of 2008 without regard to genre — whether it is work about film, TV, music, or local theater. First place and runner-up awards will be given for best entertainment news story, best feature story and critic of the year in the categories of print, online, TV and radio. The entry fee is $35.

This year Joe Morgenstern will be honored with the top NEJ Award for his contributions to the field of entertainment criticism. Morgenstern is a film critic for the Wall Street Journal and KCRW and is the co-founder of the National Society of Film Critics. He is one of only three film critics to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his work.

Call for Entries for the 2nd Annual
National Entertainment Journalism Awards

For the past 50 years, the Los Angeles Press Club has hosted one of the nation’s most prestigious regional awards competitions, with honorees including Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, and Judy Woodruff. Last year, in recognition of our unique location in the nation’s entertainment capital, we inaugurated a national contest aimed at entertainment reporters and editors, film and television critics across the country.

We are proud to announce the second annual National Entertainment Awards, and invite all journalists and critics across the country, from every media, to submit their best work for consideration.

Awards are open to all U.S journalists for work published or disseminated during 2008. The press club will offer three separate awards in each of four categories – print, television, radio, and online.

Entry fee is $35 per submission, any category; checks to be made out to the Los Angeles Press Club and mailed to:
