WHO: Amy Alkon, Emmanuelle Richard, Cathy Seipp invite you to…
WHAT: An L.A. Press Club party celebrating the publication of Rodney Rothman’s new book “Early Bird: A Memoir of Premature Retirement,” which recounts how former David Letterman writer Rothman decided to move to a Florida retirement community at age 28…. just because he could. Publishers Weekly says: “He infiltrates the social hierarchy of the “pool group,” eats dinner at the local early-bird specials and joins a shuffleboard club.”
WHEN: Wednesday, June 22, from 7 to 10 p.m.
WHERE: The rooftop bar of the Formosa Cafe in West Hollywood, 7156 Santa Monica Blvd (near La Brea). Ph: (323) 850-9050. Theme: Old Hollywood (the Formosa of “L.A. Confidential” fame) meets new (28-year-old Rodney Rothman).
WHY: As they say in Florida retirement communities, you have to ask? “Early Bird” has garnered praise from Jon Stewart, Nick Hornby and Dave Eggers. Sarah Vowell: “Old fashioned retirement at the age of twenty-eight? Funny?-sure. But Rothman is also riveting, friendly, and the good kind of sad.”
RSVP: Is a MUST! Email [email protected] or call 323-469-8180. Space is limited so reply ASAP.
