Looking for a way to relieve stress, learn a new skill and get to know a supportive and delightful online community of journalists and editors from around the world by doing art together?
This winter, LA Press Club members have access to free online art classes — most of which are open to artists of all levels — featuring new techniques and new teachers. Artist Maude May will show you how to use fabric and needles in her “Stitch a Picture” class. Artist Lado Pochkhua will help you explore different art materials, and January will center “wet media,” from watercolor to ink and beyond. Fabric art maestro Tany Hartnett will guide students through a four-week beginning knitting class (more experienced folks are welcome to join), and former Reuters employee Jean Tait will teach students how to make beaded jewelry.
Classes will be scheduled differently this year. To register, fill out this form to tell us what classes you want to take, what time zone you live in and what days and times you can attend class. When 6 students who can take the class at the same time sign up, we’ll schedule it!
The exception is Lado Pochkua’s “Experimenting with Materials,” on Saturdays, and his “Drawing/Painting Studio Class” on Sundays, which are already scheduled. See more below.

All levels welcome in this class where fine art meets fabric. Students will draw or trace an image on fabric, then learn different stitches.
NEW! Knit a Scarf with Tanya Hartnett (Dates TBD)
This introductory class offers a four-week session in which students learn the basic knitting moves to make a scarf.
NEW! Beaded Jewelry with Jean Tait (Dates TBD)
Learn different ways to work with beads to create your own earrings, necklaces and rings.
