Director of the Media Hub of the Americas (U.S. Department of State Bureau of Public Affairs), Justen Thomas, who is a Spanish and Portuguese language spokesperson for the State Department, will visit the Los Angeles Press Club this coming Thursday evening. He will discuss potential coverage and interview opportunities with high level US Government officials.

Justen Thomas is a career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State since 2007, and since August 2013 serves as Director of the State Departments Media Hub of the Americas in Miami, Florida. The Media Hub of the Americas engages major Spanish language and Latin American media outlets to communicate U.S. policy to audiences throughout the region. The Hub is part of the Department of States Bureau of Public Affairs.
Before coming to Miami, Justen worked as a Staff Assistant to Assistant Secretary Roberta Jacobson in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil, and Vice-Consul at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France. Justen is from Wisconsin, and got his BA in Economics, International Relations, and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He then completed an MA in International Development from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.
Justen speaks Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Swedish, and lived abroad in Argentina, Bolivia, and Sweden before joining the State Department.
