Iraq? Jobs? Vietnam Records? Gay Marriage? How well has the media covered the 2004 presidential campaign? Are some stories being overplayed while real issues get ignored? Political commentator and activist Bill Rosendahl moderates an all-star panel of journalists discussing what we’ve seen so far and what we can expect come November.

THE PANEL
BILL ROSENDAHL (Moderator) – Rosendahl is a “Distinguished Lecturer” at California State University at Dominguez Hills. Prior to teaching, he was in the cable industry for 22 years as producer, host and moderator for such Public Affairs television shows as Personal Best, Local Talk, Week in Review, Middle East Perspectives, God Squad, Beyond the Beltway, and Healthcare Updates. Rosendahl is Chair of the California Commission on Tax Policy in the New Economy; State of California Moderator for the Unemployment Insurance Finance Committee, on the Museum Council for the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and a past president of the Los Angeles Press Club. Prior to his cable career he was a White House appointee to the State Dept. serving as Chief of Operations for the U.S. Trade and Development Program, and an Associate in philanthropic work for John D. Rockefeller, III. He has been involved in numerous presidential, gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns.
TOM ELIAS – Nominated three times for the Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary, Elias writes a syndicated political column appearing twice weekly in 56 daily newspapers around California. He is the author of two books: “The Simpson Trial in Black and White” and “The Burzynski Breakthrough: The Most Promising Cancer Treatment and the Government’s Campaign to Squelch It”. Elias is a member of Los Angeles Press Club.
CHAD GRAHAM – Graham began his career as assistant press secretary to Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) and has covered business for The Hollywood Reporter. Until January, he was a columnist for The Des Moines Register and a business-features reporter covering everything from farming to pop culture. He is currently the news-features editor of The Advocate magazine, the country’s leading Gay & Lesbian newsmagazine.
JULIO MORAN – Moran was a journalist for 25 years and was part of staffs awarded Pulitzer Prizes on three separate occasions during the course of his career with the Los Angeles Times. Currently, he is the executive director of the California Chicano News Media Association and an adjunct professor at the USC Annenberg School of Journalism teaching news writing and reporting.
JILL STEWART – Stewart launched her syndicated column Capitol Punishment, in January following a six-year stint as a columnist at New Times Los Angeles. In 2001 Stewart won the American Society of Newspaper Columnist’s award for “Best Column In The Nation” and in 2002 was named “Top Local Columnist” by the Los Angeles Press Club. Stewart has been a guest on The O’Reilly Factor, Dennis Miller Show and on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. She appeared for four years on KPCC National Public Radio’s AirTalk with Larry Mantle, has guest-hosted on KFI AM Talk Radio and frequently appears on KABC Talk Radio’s Larry Elder Show and KCET TV’s Life & Times Tonight. Stewart is a director of Los Angeles Press Club.
FRANK STOLTZE – The award-winning Stoltze has covered criminal justice and politics for KPCC 89.3 FM Radio for the past three years. Prior to that he served as News Director at Pacifica Radio’s KPFK 90.7 FM.
