Blossom the Possum.

Vice President Patt Morrison brought a guest with her to the March 2004 Press Club Board of Directors’ meeting: Blossom the Possum. Baby Blossom was rescued by a homeless man who brought it to a vet just as Patt happened to be there. So she took Blossom in, and did all that the possum-rescue people advise — feeding her kitten- replacement formula with an eyedropper, keeping her moist and warm [in Patt’s ‘’virtual marsupial’’ coat pocket] and, well, other intimate functions that baby possums can’t yet do for themselves.

Blossom enjoyed the paparazzi attention at the board meeting, but has now, as the law requires, begun living with a certified possum rehabilitator for a return to the wild. If that’s not possible, she could be ‘’on the circuit’’ teaching schoolkids about urban wildlife. The Pasadena Humane Society staff pronounced her the cutest baby possum they’d ever seen. Well, of course!
