With two months left before the presidential election, what kind of coverage can we expect from the national news media? Did the media become obsessed with the Swift Boat controversy because it was sexier and easier than examining John Kerry’s and George Bush’s differences on economics and health care? Where have the bright spots been so far?
Four experts in politics and media will tackle these questions in “Bush-Kerry: How’re We Doing?”, ”a Los Angeles Press Club panel on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Press Club, 6464 Sunset Blvd., Suite 800. Co-sponsored by PR Newswire.
The panel discussion will test the wits of:
–Susan Estrich, a USC law and political science professor who managed the unsuccessful 1988 campaign of Democratic Presidential candidate Michael Dukasis.
–Author and former Drudge Report researcher Andrew Breitbart.
–Peter Dreier, the Dr. E.P. Clapp Distinguished Professor of Politics and director of the Urban & Environmental Policy Program at Occidental College.
–Charles Wiley, a journalist and commentator and member of Accuracy in Media.
